"Chester"
Chester is our 13 year old chubby kitty who was willed to Dr. Jim Codington by one of his clients who passed away many years ago. He has lived with us here at The Country Vet since 2001 and fits right in.
Chester's personality is a lot like "Garfield". If you've seen his tummy you know what we mean! His favorite pasttimes include belly rubs from his loving co-workers, wrestling with "Bean" (our newest feline addition) and long walks on the beach.
If you don't happen to see Chester when you're here at TCV, it's probably because he's outside lounging in the sun or chasing Bean around the clinic. Look for him in the reception area on the back counter or laying belly-up on the floor.
He can be a bit skittish around kids, but if approached slowly with a gentle hand, he is glad to accept those loving rubs!

"Bean"
Bean is our newest addition to The Country Vet Feline Menagerie. One of our long-time clients, Pam Wilde, found him and 2 littermates in her yard, only a few weeks old. Pam took great care of them as youngsters bringing them into the clinic for all of their health checks and vaccinations. Needless to say, we all fell in love with the little black and white kitten. It didn't take long to convince Dr. Jim that we needed another young, wild spirit in the office.
As you can imagine, raising a kitten in a busy veterinary office is a feat in itself. We started out with lots of cardboard barriers throughout the reception area (aka. Bean's Playhouse). He ran around batting Josie's tail, wrestling Chester to the ground and wreaking havoc with the front office. That's how he got his name, he was like a Jumping Bean! It didn't take long for him to figure out that scaling the drawers led to the counter, which led to the open area of the waiting room. Cardboard barriers no more! He quickly learned to stay clear of those large, furry, barking creatures with big teeth.
Bean enjoys lounging in one of the many beds in the reception area. He and Chester are best friends and spend a lot of their spare time outside lounging in the wicker chair on the porch. They have been known to "spoon" each other when it's cold outside.
What happened with Bean's siblings you say? One fateful day, Nelda Simmons (another of our favorite clients - we have lots!) had an appointment for her sweet bichon "Emily". While Nelda was sitting in the reception area with her husband Larry, Pam walked in with the kittens. Pam, utilizing her stealthy saleswoman skills, brought the kittens out of the carrier for Nelda and Larry to hold. It was love at first sight. Two beautiful additions to the Simmons' family. Bless their hearts for opening their home to these sweet little orphans.
Thanks Pam, Nelda, & Larry!
